HISTORY
“High-caliber men.”
To truly understand Alpha Psi Rho, you must recognize its roots. The Founding Fathers of this Brhotherhood were brought up in the 90’s, marked by the L.A. Riots, Desert Storm, gangsta rap, and the slaying of hip-hop icons. Concurrently, Asian and Pacific Islander-Americans struggled to find their identity in the United States. While some found prosperity in gangs, others aspired to achieve success through higher education. In this environment, The Ten Founding Fathers enrolled at San Diego State University and became involved in various student organizations. Unsatisfied with what they had found, they sought to create a stronger community for people with similar interests and those destined for greater lifestyles. Fueled by the hunger to make a greater impact in the community, The Ten Founding Fathers established the Brhotherhood of Alpha Psi Rho on March 1st, 2000 at San Diego State University.
Alpha Psi Rho was forged upon four simple, yet iron principles: Brotherhood, Academics, Prosperity and Strength. These pillars form an unyielding foundation with limitless potential. Due to persistent opposition and doubt, hustle and determination have become motifs in the Alpha Psi Rho lifestyle. This drive continues to propel Alpha Psi Rho to prominence, solidifying its position as San Diego’s most recognized and involved API-interest (Asian Pacific-Islander) Fraternity. Today, this lifestyle defines what it means to be a Gentleman of Alpha Psi Rho.
